A CEO’s Message
October was a huge month for Select Global, highlighted by a
fantastic tour of Utah through The Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity
(GOEO). In addition to various meetings and events (recapped below) we have
continued our incentive and site selection process with battery assembly
manufacturing, plastic injection molding, as well as a new agricultural global
export business and also a hospitality company we can’t even hint about.
While the trip to Utah lasted only 5 days they certainly
packed in a lot. In addition to the guided tours, my favorite memories were the
intimate and candid conversations with business owners, local politicians,
educators as well as local and regional economic development organizations.
In addition to the breathtaking vistas and outdoor
amenities, Utah brings a lot to the table. Besides learning about Utah’s low
unemployment, highly educated workforce, and young demographic, we were
surprised to learn that Utah has one of the lowest occurrences of natural
disasters, and that they will host the 2034 Winter Olympics.
We look forward to forging new partnerships with businesses looking to expand
operations to Utah and with local units of government looking to collaborate on
new projects.

Participants gained a deeper understanding of various sectors poised for growth, best practices for navigating regulatory requirements, and tips for building strong networks within the industry. The luncheon highlighted SelectGlobal's extensive expertise in navigating international markets and showcased its ability to guide businesses through the complexities of foreign direct investment. This engagement not only reinforces the company’s commitment to exceeding expectations for its partners but also underscores its mission to offer strategic guidance and tailored solutions that drive success in foreign direct investment and global market entry initiatives. Exploring Utah's Economic Landscape: A Strategic Tour for National Site Selectors

On the second week of October, the Utah Governor's Office of Economic Opportunity, in collaboration with the Utah Inland Port Authority, organized an extensive and insightful familiarization tour for three esteemed
national site selectors: Jenae Valentine, MSRED, Location Analysis and Incentives Manager for MAXIS ADVISORS, Gustavo Perez Managing Director, Indirect Tax/State and Local Tax Services, Ernst & Young LLP, and Michael Edgar, CEO of SelectGlobal, LLC. This tour spanned the diverse landscapes of Utah, stretching from the vibrant community of Brigham City in the north all the way down to the picturesque city of St. George in the south. |

The carefully crafted itinerary included visits to significant businesses that are pivotal to Utah's economy, such as Stadler US, a leader in rail vehicle manufacturing, and American Packaging Corporation, known for its innovative packaging solutions. In addition to these industry highlights, participants explored several educational institutions that are shaping the workforce of tomorrow, as well as various development sites that showcase potential growth areas in the state. |

Throughout the tour, participants had the opportunity to engage with local communities, fostering valuable connections and understanding the unique attributes offered by each region. They also heard from state leaders who shared insights about Utah's promising economic growth opportunities, emphasizing the collaborative spirit that drives progress in the state.

Governor Spencer Cox took center stage during the event, outlining the state’s comprehensive economic strategies aimed at attracting new businesses and supporting existing ones. The tour culminated with a visit to the the Black Desert Championship, as part of "FedExCup Fall" in the City of St. George, which not only highlighted Utah's appeal as a premier destination for tourism but also showcased its vibrant business environment. |
